E-DRUG: DNDi-IAS satellite at AIDS 2012

Dear All,

Please join us on Sunday, July 22, on the opening day of the XIX
International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC, for a satellite session
co-organized by the Drugs for Neglected Diseases initiative (DNDi) and the
International AIDS Society-Industry Liaison Forum (IAS-ILF) on the
often-neglected drug development needs of children with HIV/AIDS.

This session will provide insight into the drug development process and will
examine what it will take to deliver an improved first-line therapy for
infants and children with HIV; outline some of the key practical and
technical challenges of formulation development for HIV-positive children;
and explore ways to overcome scientific, financial and policy barriers to
accelerating the development and implementation of more optimal treatment
regimens for children. Participants (community activists, researchers,
paediatricians, donors, implementers, ARV manufacturers, governments) will
leave the session equipped with a clear understanding of the challenges in
formulation development and will be able to contribute to a discussion to
identify solutions to ensure children with HIV have access to optimal

Stephen Lewis, Co-Director of AIDS-Free World, will deliver the opening
keynote. Please find details below.
