13th ICASA: Satellite Session - Skills Building: M&E and CRIS
Please join us for this Skills Building Session (hosted by UNAIDS
Evaluation Department) at the 13th International Conference on
AIDS and STD in Africa, in Nairobi:
* Developing national capacities for Monitoring and Evaluation
and utilization of the Country Response Information System (CRIS)
The skills-building workshop will introduce participants to
1) the newly developed UNAIDS Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E)
Modules for National AIDS programs, and
2) expose them to the CRIS software and its use.
The rapid expansion of new resources available to fight HIV/AIDS
has given rise to a demand for effective monitoring and evalua-
tion (M&E). All stakeholders involved in the implementation of
HIV/AIDS programmes at global and national levels need to famil-
iarize themselves with basic M&E concepts for an effective ex-
panded response to the epidemic.
The purposes of the modules that will form the basis of the first
component of the skills building sessions, is to provide national
AIDS programs and their partners with the knowledge and tools
needed to establish a coherent M&E system. A solid M&E system
contributes to more efficient use of data and resources by ensur-
ing that data are comparable over time and by reducing duplica-
tion of efforts.
The M&E modules will not make all practitioners working in
HIV/AIDS, M&E experts; rather, it will allow them to critically
look at existing M&E strategies, advise governments accordingly
and refer them to M&E experts where needed.
Tuesday, September 23rd, 10h30 to 12h00 & Wednesday, September
24th, 14h00 to 15h30
